WOMEN'S BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU TRAINING AT ASCEND

A supportive, structured space to learn jiu jitsu — led by women, for women.

Why we offer women's classes

Starting a martial art can feel intimidating — especially when you are unsure whether you will be the only woman in the room. At Ascend, we understand that the biggest barrier is not fitness or toughness. It is trust.

Our women's programme exists to remove that barrier entirely. Dedicated sessions give you the chance to learn in a supportive environment, build confidence at your own pace, and train with other women who understand the experience of starting something new.

What to expect

  • Classes led by Ellie Osborne, an experienced martial artist and dedicated women's coach

  • Clear instruction, structured sessions, and a calm training environment

  • No sparring until you are ready — and even then, only with supportive partners

  • A genuine community of women at different stages of their journey

Your options

  • Train exclusively in women's sessions

  • Join mixed classes alongside women's training

  • Start with women's sessions and transition to mixed classes over time

There is no right path.

The only thing that matters is that you feel comfortable and supported.

Classes for mums

We offer sessions during school hours, so you can train after drop-off and be back for pick-up.

No childcare stress.

No scheduling conflicts.

Just an hour for yourself.

Still unsure?

That is completely normal. Most of our female members felt the same way before they started:

"I have never felt uncomfortable or unsupported at Ascend."

"The biggest challenge is not having the confidence to walk in. But once you do, you realise it is a safe and welcoming environment."

"Women-only classes help women get in. Once comfortable, they often transition to mixed classes."
