Beginners Course
A structured introduction to
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu — built for adults starting from zero.
Starting something new as an adult is not easy.
Walking into a room where you do not know anyone, learning a completely unfamiliar skill, putting yourself in a new environment — that takes courage.
The hardest part is not the training. It is walking through the door. That is exactly why we built our Beginners Course the way we did.
The 12-Week Beginners Course
At Ascend, beginners are not thrown into advanced classes.
You are not expected to figure it out on your own.
And you are never left wondering if you are behind.
Over 12 weeks, you will move through a clear progression:
Weeks 1–4:
Foundations
Movement, posture, and core positions. You will learn how to move safely, understand positional hierarchy, and build the habits that everything else is built on.
Weeks 5–8:
Control and Defence
Escapes, pressure, and staying calm under resistance. You will learn how to protect yourself and start applying what you know with purpose.
Weeks 9–12:
Application
Controlled, supportive sparring designed specifically for beginners. You will connect standing work to ground positions and begin to see how everything fits together.
Every session has a purpose. Every week builds on the last.
What you do not need
to worry about
-
"I am not fit enough." You do not need to be. Fitness builds naturally through training.
-
"I will not know what to do." That is the entire point of the course. You will be guided every step.
-
"I will be the oldest / youngest / only one." Our members range from their early twenties to their fifties. You will not be alone.
-
"It will be intimidating." Ascend is built on respect, structure, and calm coaching. There is no ego here.
